Piping Supervisor Steel plant
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Piping Supervisor to lead piping installation and fabrication activities within our steel plant and yard environments. The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient and high-quality execution of piping works, coordinating teams through construction, mechanical completion and handover to commissioning while minimising rework and ensuring compliance with client requirements and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide daily onsite supervision and leadership for piping crews, welders and fitters, promoting a positive safety culture and adherence to site procedures.
Plan, coordinate and supervise piping installation, spooling, alignment, supports, flanges and tie-ins in accordance with project drawings, specifications and work packs.
Ensure work is executed to quality standards: monitor weld preparation, NDT coordination, dimensional checks and hydrostatic or pneumatic testing as required.
Prepare, review and enforce method statements, risk assessments and permit-to-work requirements for piping activities; conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Coordinate interfaces with fabrication, erection, mechanical completion and commissioning teams to avoid clashes and rework; support handover activities.
Monitor productivity, labour allocation and material availability; report progress to construction management and support recovery plans where needed.
Supervise subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual and site HSE and quality requirements; raise and follow up non-conformances.
Investigate incidents and near-misses, produce investigation reports and implement corrective actions and lessons learned.
Coach and mentor site teams, including multicultural crews; deliver inductions and on-the-job training to raise competency and performance.
Scope of Supervision:
Carbon and stainless steel piping systems, spools and supports.
Flanged and welded connections, valves, fittings and ancillaries.
Pipe racks, skids and associated structural interfaces.
Pressure testing, alignment, metrology checks and pre-commissioning activities.
Requirements:
Fluent English and French language
Proven experience supervising piping installation on industrial, refinery, oil & gas or large steel fabrication projects.
Ability to read and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs and general arrangement drawings.
Strong HSE awareness and experience implementing permit-to-work systems, risk assessments and safe working practices.
Relevant certifications and training (for example welding inspection, NDT awareness, NEBOSH or equivalent) are desirable.
Contract:
Duration: 6 months, extendable
Working hours: 10x6 or 10 hours/day, 6 days/week.
